Stone Craft in the Park
160 young stonemasons from 14 nations shaped small works of art from sandstone blocks. Around 10,000 visitors watched the craftsmen and craftswomen at work. In the shady avenues of Eschholz Park, the young artists explored the themes “In vino veritas” and “Stone has many faces in all cultures.”
The bright sunshine that weekend and the unique atmosphere of Eschholz Park turned the festival into a vibrant celebration, with streams of visitors moving through the park’s shaded avenues. The extensive music program provided varied evenings under the starry sky.
For most stonemasons and stone carvers, the main motivation to participate in the European Stone Festival is the experience of working together on a project and engaging with visitors. The festival also offers an excellent platform for exchanging experiences and establishing contacts with international workshops.
