2016 Salzburg, Austria

On June 3 and 4, Salzburg was the venue for the 15th EU Stone Festival. 125 participants from 16 nations created stone works at Kapitelplatz under the theme “From Romanesque to Modern Times.” In addition to international stone art, the festival featured live music, a traditional morning gathering with food and drink (Frühschoppen), and a presentation by the HTL Hallein for stone technology and stone design.

On June 3 and 4, Salzburg hosted the 15th edition of the EU Stone Festival. With 125 participants from 16 nations, the festival was excellently represented on an international level. Each participant was provided with a stone measuring 20 × 30 × 30 centimeters, and the theme “From Romanesque to Modern Times” deliberately allowed broad scope for interpretation.

The Provincial Guild of Stonemasons and Master Stonemasons, represented by Adolf Moser, organized the Stone Festival in Salzburg for the second time. Despite the large number of events that take place in Salzburg during the summer season, the organizers succeeded in securing a prime location at Kapitelplatz.

A live band ensured a great atmosphere on Saturday evening, while Sunday at the Stone Festival began with a traditional Frühschoppen starting at 12:30 p.m. As part of the festival, the HTL Hallein technical school for stone technology and stone design also presented itself in front of the Kapitel Fountain.

Relive the spirit of the 2016 festival
