Setting Out for Europe
The second Stone Festival took place from June 28 to 30, 2002. Over 100 stonemasonry and stone-carving apprentices, journeymen, and journeymen women from nine European countries participated in the festival. The international response to the creative professional competition was overwhelming this time. Stonemasons and stone carvers were present from Hungary, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Switzerland, Great Britain, Norway, and Germany. With over 30%, the proportion of women among the participants was very high.
Thanks to the many official representatives from the European partner countries who were present, a major breakthrough was achieved for the future of the European Stone Festival: On the initiative of Mrs. Gabriella Kőrösiné Nagy, President of the Budapest Guild of Master Stonemasons, Mrs. Agnes Nagy, Managing Director of the Hungarian Stone Association, and Mrs. Gabriella Csanadi, Deputy Regional Guild Master, the Stone Festival will take place in Hungary in 2004. The Friedrich Weinbrenner Vocational School, as the organizer, is pleased to have found a dedicated and reliable partner in the Hungarian associations and institutions, who will support the successful concept of the event. From the very beginning, the basic idea was that the festival would tour across Europe.
